Floor leveling compound, self-leveling, for layer thicknesses from 0.5 to 10 mm

PCI CN 70 Floor Leveling Compound

Self-leveling, for layer thicknesses from 0.5 to 10 mm

Product features

  • Self-leveling
  • For indoor use
  • Can be walked on after 3 hours
  • Pumpable
  • Also for heated screeds

Fields of application

  • For indoor use.
  • For leveling substrates before laying tiles or other floor coverings.
  • For smoothing and leveling:
    • Cementitious and calcium sulphate screeds
    • Rough concrete floors
    • Heated screeds

Substrate preparation

  • Substrates must be sound, clean, free from cracks, firm, dry, and free from release agents and be in accordance with the applicable ATV standards.
  • Any foreign matter or substances which could impair adhesion (e.g. cement slurries and sintered layers) must be removed using suitable machines (by sanding, milling or shot blasting). Old soft layers (such as adhesive residues) need to be largely removed to prevent cracking.
  • Dense, smooth surfaces such as ceramic tiles and slabs must always be thoroughly cleaned and sanded.
  • Calcium sulphate screeds must always be sanded and vacuumed to remove any sanding dust.
  • Cracks may be repaired effectively using PCI Apogel SH or PCI CK 740 epoxy resin.
  • Before applying the leveling compound, large hollow spaces and damaged areas must be leveled using PCI repair mortar.
  • The repaired substrates must be primed using PCI CT 17 or PCI Gisogrund.

As a general principle, the residual moisture content of the substrate must not exceed the following values (indicated in CM %):

HeatedNon-heated
Cementitious screed1.8 %2.0 %
Calcium sulphate screed0.3 %0.5 %

Application

Mix with the specified quantity of clean water (see technical data) in a mixing pail with a capacity of 30 liters using an appropriate mixer (e.g. Collomix DLX) at about 600 rpm. Mix for about two minutes until the mixture is free from any nodules or lumps.

Pour the leveling compound onto the prepared and primed substrate. Distribute it using a broom, squeegee, screed leveling bar or smoothing trowel to obtain the layer thickness required. Level and aerate the layer using an appropriate spiked roller.

PCI CN 70 can be pumped using appropriate equipment. (Please follow the instructions given by the equipment manufacturer!)

Please note

  • Do not mix with other leveling compounds.
  • Use the product only in dry conditions, at temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C.
  • Ideally, the substrate temperature should be 15 °C, the air temperature 18°C and the relative humidity between below 75%.
  • If the leveling compound dried too rapidly (as a result of heated rooms or highly absorbent substrates), there is a risk of cracking.
  • The fresh leveling layer must be protected against rapid drying and covered with tiles or other floor coverings within 14 days if possible.
  • If it is not possible to cover the leveling layer within 14 days, it must be protected against rapid drying and precipitation by appropriate precautions such as the use of protective foils.
  • Do not use this product as a screed or floor without coating.
  • In accordance with the ZDB Code of Practice ”Notes on bonded waterproofing with coatings and coverings made from tiles and slabs in indoor and outdoor applications” the leveling compound must be protected from moisture using a bonded waterproofing product (such as PCI CL 51 or PCI Seccoral) in wet rooms and areas with exposure to moisture before the tiles are laid.
  • Cleaning: Fresh leveling compound residue can be removed using water. When the product has hardened, it can only be removed mechanically.
  • Health, safety and environmental protection:
Chromate-reduced. Contains cement. Has an alkaline reaction with moisture. Protect eyes and skin. Wear the personal protective equipment required. In case of contact, immediately wash thoroughly with water. In case of contact with the eyes, seek medical attention. Information for allergy sufferers is available on: +49 (0) 211 797 0 (key word: ”emergency”). Keep the product away from drains, waterways and the soil.
